The Seminole Tribe of Florida Enviromental Health Program strives to protect and enhance the health and well-being of the Seminole Tribe Community.
The Environmental Health program is part of the STOF Health Department.
We provide one of the highest quality and comprehensive environmental health program in Indian Nation. Our program complies with Indian Health Service (I H S) and Federal public health standards. We provide a balance of education and enforcement in the work we do. Education is provided in the form of advisories, alerts, training programs, attendance of health fairs and other Tribal events.
On a daily basis, our Field Inspectors and Environmental Health Specialists are hard at work performing a variety of Environmental Health related tasks on all Tribal reservations and Indian Land (Immokalee, Brighton, Hollywood, Big Cypress, Fort Pierce, Tampa, Coconut Creek and Naples).
We cover a wide array of diverse topics and subjects that impact on public health. We work cooperatively with Seminole Tribe Housing, Police, Fire, Building and Grounds, Building Department, Public Works, and Medical on a variety of topics. We also provide direct inspection services and consultation to Tribal business and gaming entities (Seminole casino, Hard Rock venues, Food establishments, Tattoos, hair salons, Beauty salons and campgrounds including Swamp safari). Lastly the EH program is the regulatory body for the STOF Health Department ensuring compliance with Life safety, Facility, safety and sanitation and Infection control protocols.
Our team of Inspectors and field workers have years of practical experience and are considered experts in their subject matter. We are continuously learning the most up to date techniques and apply best practices in all of our Environmental Health efforts.
We work to improve the overall health and living conditions of our community while respecting and ensuring that their tradition and culture is maintained. Over the years we have garnered the respect, admiration and appreciation of the STOF community.
